Episode 9: Music Therapy with Briana Priester

Briana R. Priester, MT-BC is a seasoned music therapist and educator who specializes in early intervention, family coaching, and classroom inclusion. She received her music education degree from the University of Cincinnati, College-Conservatory of Music and returned to obtain her music therapy training from St. Mary of the Woods College in Terre Haute, IN when she realized that music had the power to support life-long change. As a champion of inclusive learning, she believes in the power of stewardship in the music classroom, and the autonomy of individual growth through music as therapy. Briana holds additional certifications in Orff-Schulwerk, Family-Centered Coaching, is a registered yoga instructor, and is currently seeking training in teaching to those who have experienced trauma.

As a thriving business owner, Briana currently works with families and children ages birth-three, refugee populations, children and adolescents, trauma survivors, and serves as the Chair of the Virginia State Task Force for Music Therapy. She has recently been featured in The Daily News Record (of Harrisonburg, VA) and in Radford University’s College of Visual And Performing Arts online publication (Radford, VA).

Briana is passionate about music for every learner, and enjoys time with her husband, cats, plant based holistic medicine, and a regular yoga practice that supports emotional and physical health.

We are thrilled to feature Ms. Priester on the #MusicEdLove Podcast today!
