POV: They offered you the gig... but forgot one essential detail 😅 (Money. They forgot the money.)

Congratulations, Friend! You were just offered an exciting gig! But wait… did they forget to mention compensation?

This is WAY more common than you might think, and to be honest, they aren’t trying to keep you in the dark. They just want to see if you’re free. The great news is that YOU are the one they want! And we want to make sure you have the tools to not only keep the gig, but to make it worth your while 😉

🧵 Here are 3 scripts to keep in your back pocket when someone invites you to guest conduct, run rehearsals, or lead a clinic — and doesn’t mention compensation:

1. Asking for details (without sounding awkward):

"Thank you so much for this invitation! The event sounds amazing! Before I can confirm, would you mind sharing a few more details about the compensation and whether travel, lodging, or meals are included?”

2. Asking for more money:

“I would truly love to work with your students — thank you again for thinking of me! Based on the time commitment and travel, would it be possible to increase the honorarium to $___? That would help make it possible on my end."

3. Saying no (but keeping the door open):

"I would normally love to do this and really appreciate the offer. Unfortunately, I am already booked for this year. Would it be possible to try for next year by chance?”
